It is photograph of a mottled black and white Catocala-like caterpillar with numerous white setae, posted to Instagram and Twitter. It was taken in 2014, and collected in Belem by Fernando Carvalho-Filho. The larva pupated and emerged, and it was a white witch moth. Dave Wagner, who should know as well as anyone, confirms that the morphology is consistent with Thysania.
